Gastrosciences and Endoscopy

Our consultants are recognised leaders in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy which means that many patients do not require invasive surgery.

The following endoscopic ultrasound procedures are performed here however they are often not performed in other private hospitals:

• endoscopic ultrasound and fine needle procedure
• endoscopic respiratory ultrasound and fine needle procedure

Procedures available in our unit include:

• endoscopic mucosal resection
• upper and lower gastrointestinal stenting
• spyglass/cholangioscopy of the common bile duct
• fibro scanning of the liver which in many cases replaces the need for liver biopsy
• liver biopsy
• advanced colonic polyp resection
• enteral feeding access
• management of strictures

Our team also provide interventional upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly:

• endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
• argon plasma coagulation (APC)
• gastrointestinal bleeding
• luminal stenting

The gastrosciences ward also has a High Dependency Unit for patients who may require additional specialist care and monitoring.

Our on-site Intensive Care Unit allows for the best in post-operative observation and care should you require that higher level of care following your surgery.

Bariatric surgery

Our surgical team works with onsite clinical nutritionists and dieticians to offer a complete care plan for our patients. While surgery aims to bring a patient’s weight down to a safe range, the team work together to ensure this is accompanied by a nutrition assessment/plan to ensure the patient will receive the full benefits of the treatment.

Our surgeons can also perform some cosmetic surgical operations to remove excess tissue from the abdomen (abdominoplasty) or upper arm (brachioplasty).
