
An Enduring Legacy of the Queen Vic
Wednesday 1 December 2021 was the 90th Anniversary of Jessie McPherson Private Hospital opening its doors to care for Victorians.
In 1931 the Jessie McPherson Hospital functioned as the private section of the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital, fees paid to attend Jessie McPherson Hospital helped finance the Queen Vic, enabling the hospital to be self-supporting.
In 1977, with the Jessie McPherson Hospital, the Queen Vic amalgamated with McCulloch House, to become the Queen Victoria Medical Centre. Keeping the Queen Vic moniker until the move to Clayton when it became Monash Medical Centre in 1987.
