About us
Jessie McPherson Private Hospital (JMPH) is a 103 bed tertiary level private hospital. Our co-location with Monash Medical Centre Clayton enables ready access to a specialist Newborn Services facility, as well as world-renowned research and teaching facilities. We also fulfil a wider specialist role for greater Melbourne and beyond, in a range of specialties including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neuroscience, gastrosciences, vascular, general medical and respiratory services.
We regularly provide care for acute and complex obstetric cases. As part of an ongoing process of change we are now looking for an experienced and motivated midwife to lead and manage the operation of a 22 bed specialist maternity services unit, including a six bed Special Care Nursery.
About the role
In this senior leadership role, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing and will be responsible for the clinical and business outcomes of the unit, delivered by around 40 people (27 EFT). Key to your success will be:

About you
You thrive in a dynamic environment and approach every day with energy and a “can do” approach, assisting you to drive change when necessary. Passionate about breastfeeding, you are also commercially astute with a keen understanding of the financial drivers of successful performance.
Mandatory requirements for this role include:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Significant leadership experience in a midwifery services unit
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Previous senior management experience in a private hospital setting will be highly regarded.
