Mr David Cowlishaw, Board Chair

Mr Cowlishaw retired from the National Australia Bank in 2001 after an extensive and varied career which began in Western Australia in 1962. Senior appointments in the bank included District Manager Metropolitan Melbourne, Head of Credit Victoria and Tasmania, secondment to an associate Merchant Bank in Indonesia as Company Secretary, General Manager of the Bank’s U.S. operations based in New York and Managing Director National Australia Trustees.

Mr Tony Jones

Mr Jones has more than 25 years’ experience as an adviser and executive in health related businesses. He is the managing director of Penant Capital which advises companies on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, financing and stakeholder relations. He was previously a member of the Group Executive at Medibank Private Limited as Group Manager Strategy and Communications (2004 to 2008) and co-head of Consumer Healthcare and Leisure investment banking at Deutsche Bank AG in Australia and New Zealand (1994-2004). Before this he worked as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen.

Mr Charles Gillies

Mr Charles Gillies is co-founder of Jolimont Capital which specialises in investing in technology companies. These companies are generally Australian based and compete in fast moving, highly competitive technology markets. As an active investor himself his approach has been to work closely with management to develop a plan to create economic value. He has been Director and Chairman of a number of investments and has worked closely with CEOs and management teams, developing strategies, setting objectives and performance targets.

Dr Wayne Ramsey, AM CSC

Dr Ramsey has had more than 35 years’ experience in medical management. He had a long and distinguished career in the Australian Defence Force that culminated with his final appointment as Director General Defence Health Service. Other more recent senior appointments have included Director Clinical Governance ACT Health and Adjunct Associate Professor at the ANU Medical School. In 2013 he retired after more than six years as Executive Director Medical Services and Quality with Monash Health, Victoria’s largest and most complex health service.

Dr Ramsey’s professional interests lie in the field of clinical and research governance. He holds an MB BS, BMed Sc, MHA, Grad Cert Higher Ed and FRACMA.

Ms Shelly Park BA Nursing, GAICD, FAIM, Fellow Ethical Leadership

Ms Shelly Park is the Chief Executive of Australian Red Cross Blood Service. Shelly Park was the Chief Executive of Monash Health from 2007-January 2016.

Shelly began her career in health as a nurse in New Zealand, before making the move to management, holding several management and executive positions in Christchurch and Canterbury, New Zealand. Shelly made the move to Australia in 2005, to take up the position of Executive Director of Monash Medical Centre Clayton and Moorabbin at Southern Health.

Shelly has a passion for leadership, quality health care delivery, patient-centred care and developing a culture of innovation in public hospitals. Past Board memberships include Chair of the Dr Foster Global Comparators Leadership Board, and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare and the Health Roundtable.

In 2011, Shelly was named as Telstra Victorian Business Woman of the Year. Shelly is a member of the International Advisory Board Company, the International Healthcare Institute and the Australian Institute of Management. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of Vincent Fairfax Ethical Leadership, has studied innovation at Wharton University and holds an Executive Masters in Management.

Mr Andrew Stripp, Chief Executive Officer, Monash Health

Andrew has extensive experience in executive roles in a variety of hospitals and health care settings; and within the State Government’s Department of Health and Human Services as the Director for the State’s mental health system, as Regional Director for Health, Housing and Community Services and as Director of Strategy.

Immediately prior to joining Monash Health, he was the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer at Alfred Health.
